This was my father’s camera when he was a teenager living in Hungary before WW2. He brought the camera to Australia when he migrated as a displaced person in 1949, though it broke sometime during the 1950s and my memory of it is sitting on the window sill for much of my childhood. I loved opening it to find the accordion-like workings, my idea of what a proper camera should be!  The old box brownie of my young years wasn’t quite in the same league.  The photo sitting behind the camera is of my great grandfather (1848-1928). Apparently he was quite a keen photographer and I have an album of family photographs from around 1910 onwards. 

[The Kodak Junior 620 was a self-erecting viewfinder folding camera for type No. 620 film rolls. It was made by the German Kodak AG branch of Kodak in the former Nagel factory in Stuttgart. Its design followed conceptions of earlier Nagel rollfilm folders like the Nagel Triumph, ie self-erecting, Gauthier shutter, Anastigmat lens, brilliant finder plus collapsible frame finder, and focusable lens.  Built sometime in the 1930s.]
