Ziock Building - a photo on Flickriver

Ziock Building

            Ziock Building in Rockford (1913). It was built for the enterprises of William H. Ziock, Jr., who sold goods as B-Z-B Knitting, the Ziock Paper Box Company, and the King Company. The tallest (13 story) part of the building was added in 1920. Ziock's companies were very successful, but the building became more known for its next occupants. In 1928, the Aldeen Corporation rented space to produce hardware. A few years later, they decided to focus on producing wares for kitchen, mostly hinges for cabintry. They were renamed the American Cabinet Hardware Corporation, and eventually held 70% of the market share. They stayed in the building until 1953. Upon its move in that year, they changed their name to Amerock. The brand was purchased by Newell Rubbermaid in 1987 and still exists.
