Boletus edulis - a photo on Flickriver

Boletus edulis

Una de las setas más apreciadas culinariamente, con aspecto inconfundible de tapón de cava, pie grueso y jaspeado y sombrero algo viscoso y brillante, con colores que van del rojo pálido al pardo o castaño.

Su carne es firme y blanca, con sabor a avellanas.

Aparece bajo frondosas o coníferas desde finales del verano y suele preferir los suelos ácidos, como los gallegos.

Estos los recolectamos en la Fraga do Río Barragán.

En inglés se la conoce como Cep, King bolete o Penny bun.
