Jean's 80th Birthday cake - a photo on Flickriver

            That embossed border always comes in handy when the sides of a cake need tarting up!
Jeans favourite flowers are carnations, though why I picked pink spray carnations I'll never know! - I wish I had gone for lemon now but hey!
I wasn't in the mood to do this cake! - I much prefer novelty cakes!
The flowers are sugar paste, the pearl beads amongst the flowers are not edible but by then I was desperate to add a little something to the arrangement to give it more interest!
I think I got away with not adding any greenery other that flower buds and the odd carnation leaf!
The piping was based on the font 'Bradley Hand' 

My camera is misbehaving - not taking very good pictures (hey I was never David Bailey!) ... my camera spent the night in the car on one of the coldest nights of the year so far, I think it got a bit damp ... its been drying out ever since ... I'm hoping it will come back to life sometime soon!
