Eavesway, Ashton-in-Makerfield 544 TRF

            1987 was a turning point for Eavesway, the year that they bought their first pair of DAF Van Hools, and they never looked back. The initial pair was one each of MB230 and SB3000, with the latter quickly winning them over as their preferred model. 

This was also the period when they became the dominant operator in the area for football team transport, with cherished plates appearing on the coaches to indicate the team to which they were allocated. 544 TRF was the first recipient of such a plate for Tranmere Rovers, on former E315 EVH, the firm's first DAF MB230 from 1987. Other plates showed usage by Everton and Bolton Wanderers, although Manchester United preferred anonymity when their contract was secured. 

This coach spent its later life in Staffordshire, moving to Swiftsure Travel at Burton-on-Trent in 1997, and then to Copeland's Tours at Meir in 2005, who ran it until 2014, so it lasted well - as Van Hools do !
