Toft Hill Farm, Glencarse 885 ATA - a photo on Flickriver

            On our way up the A85 towards Dundee, we got our first proper experience of berry buses at Toft Hill Farm, who were one of the larger operators of them - or should I say 'owners', as it was never quite clear how many of these farmers' vehicles had actually seen any use in recent years. But if they had, we should have been very afraid to be on the same roads ....

It became something of an obsession of mine to keep tracking them down over the next few years' visits, but it did give us a chance to see types of vehicles that were in use nowhere else, and in my case at least ones that I had never seen before, as they nearly all pre-dated my interest. So bear with me, they may not be the smartest vehicles you will see on here, but it was a fascinating aspect of this interest, and one that has almost totally ceased to exist now. 

885 ATA was a very early production Atlantean, entering service with Devon General in August 1959, and remaining in use down there for over 20 years, before finding its second home 500 miles north. It lost that plate in 1989, but seemingly remained in use until 1994, albeit only doing a few weeks' work each year.
