Remains of Údolský Castle - a photo on Flickriver

            One of perimeter defense castles of the lords of Hradec was first mentioned in 1359, and it´s known that an administrator attending to the castle didn´t live in it in 1439, as it was uninhabitable for unknown reasons. The two-part castle was protected by a pond from north, and a deep trench around the core was also a bach running from the pond under a stone bridge - this system still exists, and the beautiful old bridge has a smal waterfall under it. A water mill was built with use of the castle stone into the bailey in the 16th Century, using original outer walls, it exists in bad shape and is currently being repaired. The core was partially erased through building of a road and a recreational house, the southern wall is still in place between the house and the mill. A round tower was destroyed in 19th Century construction work. Most uninformed vistors have problems to identify the remains, but it is an interesting area for fans of history.
