Flickriver

This is a follow-up to the previous photo taken on the night of the dog attack. The scars are still very conspicuous 51 days later. A month after the incident, I met with the plastic surgeon who had stitched me up in the ER, and he reiterated his belief that there would be permanent scarring.

Note the red scars beneath my eye, next to my mouth (one of which is crescent-shaped), and just below my mouth, including two very small marks that have mostly faded. The crescent-shaped scar is indented, while the large red area next to it (where the skin tore) sticks out somewhat.

I'm currently investigating which type of doctor (e.g. plastic surgeon or dermapathologist) and which procedure (e.g. surgery or laser treatments) would be best, and how soon any further treatment should be done. Unfortunately, Kaiser won't pay for any of it because they consider it to be "cosmetic."
