A rare sighting of umber & cream liveried pullman Car No. 335 at York

Memories of York
Met-Cam Mk1 Pullman Parlour 2nd Car No. 335.
I have a good memory of this occasion as I was on one of my childhood holidays to York and Scarborough aged just 10 back in 1972. This was the only umber & cream liveried Pullman car that I can recall seeing, as most had already been painted up in BR blue/silver livery by this time. The coach was in a rake headed by English Electric Type 4 (Class 40) 272 (see comments section below)

I already had an attraction to the Class 40s as can be seen by this enterprising view! On checking the history of 272 on the Class 40 Motherlist I discovered it was a very early casualty - succumbing in Sep 1977, so all in all quite a rare shot!

Locomotive History
D272 / 40072 was built by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry, originally numbered D272 and entered traffic in November 1959, allocated to Gateshead MPD. Transferred to York in March 1967 and Haymarket in March 1975 it was an early casualty in the run down of the Class 40 fleet being withdrawn within a year later in August 1977 and broken up at Glasgow Works during June 1978.
