Church of San Giorgio in Braida - a photo on Flickriver

            The church of San Giorgio in Braida is a place of worship Catholic in Verona , located in the medieval district of Veronetta and erected between the ' Adige south and the road to Trento north.

Built in the sixteenth century , its bell tower , of the twelfth century , is what remains of a monastery built in the eleventh century and of which nothing remains apart, along the Adige, the cloisters of the old monastery rebuilt.

Outside 
The facade is marble white (while the rest of the church is cooked ) with two rows of pillars , at the bottom of Ionic and Corinthian at the top; in the two niches side are statues of St. George and St. Lorenzo Giustiniani .

The bell tower, incomplete, houses six bells in the musical scale of Sol 3 waning. Were merged by the founder Vr Ruffini in 1776 and the lowest was added by the caster Chiappani Vr in the mid-nineteenth century. The complex belfry is known not only in the historical and scientific environments for decorative and artistic value to the beauty of the sound, but also to have given birth to the technical manual of the concerts sound of the bells Veronese still practiced in this bell tower .

Martyrdom of St. George of the Veronese
The interior has a nave with four side chapels only: completed between 1536 and 1543 , contains important works of art. Above the main door is a work of Tintoretto depicting the Baptism of Christ . Under the dome instead of a work of Veronese . In the presbytery you can see two large canvases: one of Farinati , the multiplication of the loaves , and the other Brusasorzi , The manna in the wilderness : after all, a masterpiece by Veronese, The Martyrdom of St. George . The altar, the organ is instead kept the Madonna and Child in glory with the holy Catherine, Lucia, Cecilia, Barbara and Agnes of Moretto . In 1540 Michele Sanmicheli built the dome of the church, creating a vast choir .
