2023 - Mexico City - 118 of 181 - CABLEBÚS LINE 1 - 1 of 10

It's a new day and the plan for today is a ride on Mexico City's first CABLEBÚS Line 1.

As of 2023, there are two CableBus lines in service. They are the longest (10.55 Km) and second longest (9.2) cable car routes in the world. Line 3 is under construction and line 4 is in the planning stage.

Line 1 opened in 2021 and spans 9.2 Km with six stations and gondolas that carry up to 10 passengers.

The cable cars move over the cityscape at heights up to 100 feet.

A ride cost $7 Pesos each way ($0.40 US - $0.55 CDN) and requires a Metro card for access.

Makes me smile, Vancouver has talked for years about a short cable car link from the Production Way Skytrain Station to Simon Fraser University. All the city does is talk.

In the meantime Mexico City is blanketing their public transit network with massively long cable car lines.

Cablebús Line 1 starts at Indios Verdes station and heads into the far north of the City. The station connects to Metro line 3 Indios Verdes station.

At Campos Revolución station the cablebús line splits into two cables for transfer, one toward Cuautepec station and the other toward Tlalpexco station.

The ropeway installation for Line 1 was built by Doppelmayr Mexico. The cars are OMEGA V cabins by CWA Constructions.
