Raphael - a photo on Flickriver

            Raphael is working at the Tel Aviv Frishman beach together with his son and his nephew. I've known him for 3-4 years. He is a very friendly and kind man. His Hebrew isn't very fluent, however, he does know how to communicate with his limited vocabulary.
Whenever he sees me, or my brother, (as we're daily visiting), he always asks us to say hello to our Mom. He shows with his finger, pointing on his cheek, meaning "give her a kiss from me"!

During this past year, Raphael has willingly modeled for me, for as much and as often as I have asked him to.
He would gladly pose for me with a bottle of water, lifting it up in the air, or sitting in the sun, reading a fresh or old newspaper, or just standing stiff like an old time soldier.

Raphael emigrated to Israel from Russia a few years ago. He has a picture of Lenin tattooed on his chest.  I don't know if he is proud of it, but he said Lenin was a good man, when I've asked him: Why Lenin?
