Tokyo Tower- Landmark Light - a photo on Flickriver

Since its opening in 1958, Tokyo Tower has become a beloved symbol of Tokyo. 333 meters tall, the two-floor main observatory is 120-125 meters above the ground; and there is also a special observatory 223 meters above ground. On a clear day, Mt. Fuji can be seen from Tokyo. The stairs to the main observatory (around 600 steps) are open to the general public on Saturdays and holidays (but don’t try this unless you’re feeling pretty fit). The tower itself serves as a communications tower and a site for measuring equipment used by the Tokyo Bureau of Environment; but it is generally known as a Tokyo landmark and tourist attraction. The red and white-colored tower is a wonderful sight to behold at night, when it is illuminated. An icon of the Tokyo night landscape, the color of the illumination varies depending on the season and the occasion.
