Former Royal Pavilion Theatre, Blackpool

            The former Royal Pavilion Theatre on Rigby Road was opened in 1909 and closed during WW1, it reopened in 1919, renamed The Futurist in 1929, the Plaza Cinema in 1939, after WW2 was renamed The Alexandra Cinema then the New Alexandra in 1948, in the late 60's it reverted back to its original name The Royal Pavilion Theatre and showed live shows in the summer season, with cinema use in winter months.

It closed and reopened a few times from the late 70's to 1984 when it closed, it reopened as a live theatre, with productions of ‘girly’ shows & ‘drag’ shows. Returned briefly to cinema use in 1990, in 1993, it reverted back to live theatre use. It is now the Karaoke Fun Bar.

The box protruding from the front of the building was the projection box.
