The Grove Arcade, Asheville - a photo on Flickriver

            Built by Edwin W. Grove in 1927-29, the Grove Arcade still sits proudly in downtown Asheville.  Grove developed and marketed Grove's Chill Tonic which made him a millionaire several times over.  In addition to the arcade, he built the Battery Park Hotel and the Grove Park Inn.  The arcade was originally intended to have a 14 story office tower above the three story base, but Grove died before this could be completed.  The Great Depression settled the matter.  The building was appropriated for government use during World War II, but was returned to commercial use after the war.  It flourishes today.
