            The Hotel Governor Dinwiddie, 506 High Street, Portsmouth, Virginia

The Governor Dinwiddie was built in 1940 as the Hotel Portsmouth and was renamed in the 1950s in honor of Robert Dinwiddie, a lieutenant governor in colonial Virginia until 1758.  The hotel struggled in the 1970s and endured a dim twilight as a retirement home.  It was reopened several years ago and appears to be enjoying success.  I would have preferred to see its interior spaces restored more faithfully to the original, though certain important elements have been retained.  

Note:  The geo-tagging editor insists that this is in Parkview.  The building is nowhere near Parkview.  It's directly in the middle of Olde Towne Portsmouth.
