1969 MGB/GT in Golden Gate Park

You can compare my old MGB/GT to the new MG in the adjacent photo. I bought this car in March, 1970, and drove it until early 1983, selling it just before my family and I went to Geneva for several months. It had a 4-speed stick shift, and I'm very proud of getting more than 72K miles (120K km) on the original clutch, up and down the hills of San Francisco.

It was fun to drive, a great value, an excellent size for the city (153in or 3.9m long), and somewhat more reliable than its reputation would have you believe. Cars of that era weren't all that reliable anyway. Not much power, though - 95hp, a 0-60 time of 11 seconds, and a top speed under 100mph (160 kph). About 20mpg if I remember correctly.

Of all the cars my family has owned, this is one of my three favorites, the others being my 1979 Porsche 924 (which I got after returning from Geneva in Fall 1983) and my 2001 Honda Prelude (flic.kr/p/258qUKW), which I drove from 2004 until 2019.
