The tea-stained ovals are sewn into an endless book form with a link stitch. Multiple end-bands are embellished with cylindrical beads. Inspired by organic forms. 

My love of paper and fascination with containers made it almost inevitable that I would discover the book arts.

Currently, I am challenging myself to use traditional binding techniques to create sculptural pieces that really are blank books. Many of my pieces are inspired by marine and botanical forms, giving them an organic feel. The materials that I accumulate in my studio often inspire my work. Things such as tea-dyed coffee filters, heat warped polyester, pine needles, beads, wire, and shells, find their way into my work.

I name some of my abstract forms after they are completed. Frequently, I flip through a picture dictionary until I find something that resembles the sculpture, and name the piece for it.
