RD11879. Trains Crossing. - a photo on Flickriver

            RD11879.  Trains crossing at Romney Sands on the 15 inch gauge Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway on the East Kent coast.  

On the left heading towards New Romney is No. 1 GREEN GODDESS, built by Davey Paxman of Colchester in 1925.      

On the right bound for Dungeness is No.10 DR SYN which is mechanically similar to the other Pacifics on the line, but has the appearance of a Canadian or American locomotive - with buffers.  It was assembled in 1931 by the Yorkshire Engine Company in Sheffield using some parts originally built by Davey Paxman in Colchester.  

Dr. Syn was a fictitious vicar-cum-smuggler of the 18th Century who was based in the Romney Marshes.
