RD5482 BLANCHE on WHR train - a photo on Flickriver

            RD5482.  Porthmadog Harbour Station is now the terminus of two railways following the opening of the new Welsh Highland Railway connection to the Ffestiniog Railway early in 2011.  

The first public trains to use the new connection were ‘Winter Warmers’ from Porthmadog to Hafod y Llyn and these were run a couple of times a week during January and February.  Because trains bound for the Welsh Highland have to reverse immediately after leaving Harbour Station, a station pilot, in this case B-B Funkey diesel-hydraulic VALE OF FFESTINIOG, has to pull the train out onto The Cob. 

 Ex Penrhyn Quarry Railway 2-4-0T/T BLANCHE is attached to the front of the 11.30 train so that she can set of for Hafod y Llyn as soon as the train is out on The Cob and the points have been reset for the Welsh Highland track.
