the ideal spot

            Papaver alpinum subsp. alpinum (Nordost-Alpenmohn) Leobner Hütte, Eisenerzer Alpen, Steiermark, Austria. At this site, the snow remains in average until mid of June. During the last 10 years, the snow melted away already in May (most of the times). As the snow remains much longer at this particular spot, the soil is very barren. As such, it is the ideal place for these beautiful alpine flowers.
