what I learned from Nelson ... - a photo on Flickriver

            At his passing, I can't help but wonder what I learned from Mandela. Likely, many things, some of which I may realize later. Right now I think the clearest thing I learned is that people are finite in their very nature. Even those people that seem ubiquitous, like he seemed to me from the time I watched him address news reporters when we was released from prison, to today. This realization is obvious but even so, it is what I am thinking while listening to reports of Mandela's life on television and on the internet. 

He taught me that what we do with our time on earth before we enter eternity is the thing. His impact was large. Mine may not be, but I will try to make my influence felt in some good way by my friends and by my family, what few of them I have. 

The image I posted has little to do with all of this except that this is what I was thinking while processing the image in software. The original idea behind the image when I took it and several like it, was to show how abstract ideas are out of reach even though technology brings them to our fingertips. The hard flash was meant to show the surface of the monitor and the internal display of software at the same time.  I hope you like the result.
