Packhorse Inn near Monsal Head, Derbyshire

            The last stop on our 2004 trip to England was Bakewell in Derbyshire. It proved to be an excellent base for exploring the southern Peak District, with good bus connections to Chatsworth, Monsal, Eyam, and other attractions.  On our last afternoon there, we took a walk from Bakewell north along a public footpath known locally as the "bridle path" to the Monsal Trail, portions of which follow the route of an abandoned railway.  We had tea at the famous Monsal Inn, a well known destination and stopping place for walkers in the Peak District, from which the shots of the viaduct were taken.
