Shiao long bao (Soup dumplings) - a photo on Flickriver

            Being in Shanghai, home to the shiao long bao, when we saw these on the menu, we had to order them.  When they came out, however, our first reaction was - GASP - they're HUGE!!  I guess that's what we get for ordering shiao long bao in a Cantonese dim sum restaurant!

These shiao long bao look deflated, but actually contain a good amount of "soup" produced by the aspic filling melting during the steaming process.  The soup was unnecessarily greasy.  Otherwise, these little bao's were acceptable.
