The United Nations' Care for the Palestine Refugees

            At the beginning of the year, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNA) was still taking care of, and feeding, some 925,000 Arab refugees of the Palestine war of 1948. UNRWA has made constant efforts to provide employment for the refugees; to help solve this problem, vocational training centres capable of training first-class craftsmen who will always be able to command employment have been set up by the Agency. UNRWA spent over 275,000 for vocational training during the two fiscal years which ended Juno 30, 1956. In addition, welfare centres were opened where, among other activities, the refugees can learn such crafts as sewing, cutting or tailoring.
