Northern Pacific Railway depot in Miles City, Montana

            The Northern Pacific depot in Miles City, Montana was once an integral link to transportation, built in 1924 to replace a simpler brick station and serving the community for many decades until finally closed in 1979.  Northern Pacific passenger service ended in 1964 and after Amtrak's inception in the early 70's, there was lesser service for a few years until its closing.  Though saved from demolition by the city in 2009 and added to the National Register of Historical Places in 2010, it has mostly resided vacant and in a steady state of disrepair alongside the BNSF mainline for many years.
