Common green darner, female (Anax junius)

A major migrant and often the first arrival across the East. Both males and females beautiful close up! Most of ours head on north for the Summer ... as they head back south in the Fall their flight coincides with Monarch butterflies headed to the Gulf coast (we've driven along with them both!). at the wetlands in April
