D.R.S. Route Learner from York for this season's R.H.T.T. at Ecclesfield - 0298

            Passing the site of old industrial building, with now different owners and a still very busy site, the short road, Butterthwaite Lane, along to the Midland Bridge here, having recently been resurfaced, has made the sites more easily accessible, the road now completely clear of huge potholes. Passing by in super lighting conditions is a DRS class 66, heading south towards Meadowhall and just to the left of the loco a pile of curved rail-head which were dropped off there in early, 2016!! All the buildings on the left are those which were once occupied by the Norfolk Foundry, Excelsior File Works and the Brightside Foundry all served by sidings which fanned out off the main line here, the rail access being just beyond the N.R. compound on the left. Passing south in full sun directly behind the camera is D.R.S. 66426 on the 0Z62 York Parcels Sidings via Sheffield to Gainsborough Central route learner for the commencement of the RHTT season, next week. Having reached Gainsborough 48 minutes early, there being no wait in Sheffield after reversal, it set off back from Gainsborough, 29 minutes early, on the same route and headed for Sheffield, but this time it was to continue on another leg of the diagram, 0Z63, to Knaresborough, but it was cancelled before it got that far at Engine Shed Junction near Leeds; no idea what caused this to happen... it didn't run again today, Thursday, 30th September.
