Interior da Igreja Matriz de Valongo

            A Igreja Matriz de Valongo é um monumento histórico e religioso da cidade de Valongo, no distrito do Porto, em Portugal. Foi construída no mesmo local da antiga igreja, demolida devido ao seu estado de degradação. A obra começou em 1794 e demorou mais de 50 anos a terminar. Foi construída em estilo neoclássico, seguindo a traça da igreja da Lapa, no Porto. A fachada apresenta três corpos constituídos pelo corpo central e duas torres sineiras, sendo formada pelo portal retangular, ladeado e rematado por cantaria, encimado por três amplos janelões. No interior, destacam-se os altares de talha dourada, as pinturas e as imagens sacras. 
A igreja serviu de quartel-general às tropas francesas durante as invasões napoleónicas. 
A primeira missa foi celebrada em 20 de setembro de 1823. 

The Igreja Matriz de Valongo is a historical and religious monument in the city of Valongo, in the district of Porto, Portugal. It was built on the same site as the old church, demolished due to its state of degradation. The work began in 1794 and took more than 50 years to complete. It was built in neoclassical style, following the design of the church of Lapa in Porto. The façade has three bodies consisting of the central body and two bell towers, and is formed by the rectangular portal, flanked and topped by stonework, surmounted by three large windows. Inside, the gilded altars, paintings and sacred images stand out. 
The church served as headquarters for French troops during the Napoleonic invasions. 
The first mass was celebrated on September 20, 1823.
