Brechin Round Tower Door - a photo on Flickriver

            Door detail from the Brechin Round Tower shown in the previous photo.  It's obliviously been blocked over, but in its day, the door would have been made of heavy wood and is situated about six feet above ground level.  This was done to prevent traveling salesmen (and other unsavory types) from gaining access and pillaging your valuables.

Linda and I just returned from a couple of weeks vacation in Scotland and northern Spain.  Linda is from the UK and has family there, whom we stayed with.  In Spain, she has a sister who lives there.

We didn't do a lot of touristy stuff.  In fact, I didn't take all that many photos - and never once changed the lens on my camera.  Still, it was a fun trip.  We got to visit family and see some new places, eat some different foods, and drive a car on the opposite side of the road down narrows streets.
