Marg Brocklebank's Drive Shed/Streetsville/Ontario

            Marg Brocklebank died in December last year. She was our neighbour immediately to the south, and lived in the same home for all of her eighty-plus years. 

She had a huge family, who were always visiting her. Sons and sons-in-law were all construction tradesmen. I remember when a Manitoba maple fell over on her roof, the boys had the tree cut up and the roof replaced and shingled in about three days. She had huge raucous family 'dos' in the back yard and, Lordy, they could party.

The shed is out back of the house. It was once the garage for horse drawn milkwagons. The Canadian Pacific Railway line runs behind all of our houses, and the watering tower for the old steam engines once stood immediately behind our property. In the thirties, hobos left the trains at this point, and climbed the back fence for a meal made by Marg's mother. In return, they cut wood or did other odd jobs. 

The sign is from the old Streetsville station. Marg rescued it after the station was demolished. The sign was taken down from the shed in May.

The house has just gone up for sale, so we're waiting with anticipation. Unfortunately, as you can see, the shed's ridge pole is shot and the building is listing, so it will possibly have to come down. 

Too bad...
