A young Kit's balancing act! - a photo on Flickriver

            A young Red Squirrel Kit looks down in contemplation, using his longer hind legs and claws to balance. Sharp claws are useful for gripping bark and the tail helps the squirrel to balance. They can land quite safely from a 30 feet height.
