Atop the Bank of Montreal building - a photo on Flickriver

            I'm sure many old Bank of Montreal buildings in many a small town in Ontario and Quebec have this motif, but this is the first time I've really noticed it, for some reason.

Newmarket, Ontario.

*update: these are, in essence, the original arms of the city of Montreal, from 1833, until they were modified in 1938 - except with the words "BANK OF MONTREAL" rather than "CORPORATION OF MONTREAL" underneath.
