Dry stone walls feature, with Celtic cross within; power lines overhead and to the left

The dry stone walls located on Amherst Island are a unique feature to Loyalist Township. It is one of the only areas in Canada with such a significant concentration of historical dry stone walls. The walls were built as both a place to move the stones unearthed from the fields during ploughing and to create enclosures for livestock.

According to the Doors Open brochure, many of Amherst Island's dry stone walls were built in the late 19th century by John Crowe, from Ards, County Down, Northern Ireland.

However, the above one was deliberately, newly built in 2015 by dry stone wall enthusiasts:

As part of a feature at that site, along with another one there, and some other sites on Amherst Island.

But there were others built by Crowe (and others) pre-existing at various locations, such as the one at Pentland Cemetery I showed recently, though it was repaired and restored by these folks.
