            Went for a drive to Southend on Sea. Only took an hour and a bit.The shops are not too bad, same as most of the small town shops (lots of empty units).
The best part of the trip was the pier, the Worlds longest pier. Did the walk (well the mile and a bit that you can as its shut due to the damage recently caused by a barge)then we did the train to the end. Thats where it went a bit flat. After the 2 mile walk of, to the damage and back on a cool November day we caught the pier train to the end as we were told the cafe was open and we thought perfect a cuppa at the end of the worlds longest pier sounds great. What a total total pile of crap of a cafe, it is a rotten, damp filthy looking shack that stocks pop and snacks. There are other options but the rather uninspired young staff really have an air of f**k this for a lark. We caught the next train back, very disapointed. Southend Pier, you need to pop up to Southwold Pier and see what a proper seaside pier is all about. Oh and Southwold Pier is free admission!!
Please sort it out as you have a wonderful attraction in the longest pier and you are blowing it. Sorry to moan, but we were not alone on that day with what a let down it was!!
