Vid - Inspiring Spires - a photo on Flickriver

            The beautiful Saint Mary's Cathedral in the West End of Edinburgh's New Town (confusingly there is another Saint Mary's at the east end! That one is the Catholic cathedral, this one the Episcopal cathedral).

The foundations were laid in 1874 (so by Edinburgh standards this is practically a modern building!). An A-listed historic building, it is one of only three cathedrals in the British Isles that has three spires (the main one being 90 metres, or some 295 feet, making it quite the landmark on the city's skyline).

I've taken plenty of photos of this building over the years, but on this recent walk I was treated to some gorgeous, early spring sunlight that just looked so good on the old stonework that I found myself just pausing to drink it in, and of course take a few pics and video to share.
