RAILTRAXX E4001-3978 @ Chapelle-à-Wattines 🇧🇪

We blijven nog even aan lijn 94 tussen Ath en Leuze-en-Hainaut maar trekken vanuit Irchonwelz een goede 6 kilometer meer naar het westen en komen dan in het kleine dorpje Chapelle-à-Wattines.

Met de ingang van het zomeruur op zondag 31 maart 2024 stond niets meer in de weg om de ballasttrein van RAILTRAXX vanuit Lessines naar Frankrijk niet alleen te achtervolgen op het korte stukje lijn 90 tussen Lessines en Ath maar ook na het kopmaken in Ath op lijn 94.

Maandag 8 april stond de eerste poging op het programma... en dat was meteen een zeer goede. Nadat ik eerder op de avond al een foto in Houraing had gemaakt van deze trein, dieselde de E4001-3978 van CAPTRAIN France perfect op tijd en in een heerlijke avondzonnetje mijn lens voorbij, de omgeving (en de fotograaf) achterlatend in een kleine stofwolk 😮

En zo werd maandag 8 april wel een lange maar zeer vruchtbare dag!

As I mentiones already here, CAPTRAIN France, in collaboration with Railtraxx, took over the crushed stone trains from Lessines, driven by Europorte, as from January 8, 2024.

Due to the relatively late departure time of the trains in Lessines (theoretical departure time at 5:32 PM), I had to wait until the days became a bit longer for a photo on railway line 94 between Ath and the French border (theoretical departure time in Ath is 6:38 PM). The train itself left that day perfect at the scheduled departure time in Ath and passed me in Chapelle-à-Wattines 12 minutes after departure, leaving the area in a large cloud of dust!
