Nu er in België deze week wat commotie ontstaan is over de impact van de nieuwe 'IC-snel' die vanaf december tussen Brussel en Amsterdam zal gaan rijden, keer ik met veel plezier nog eens terug naar woensdag 5 juni 2024 toen de wereld van de Amsterdammer (of 'IC Brussel' voor onze Nederlandse vrienden) nog helemaal in orde was.

Alhoewel... helemaal in orde? Door een wisselstoring op de HSL Zuid tussen Rotterdam en Breda werd de 'IC Brussel' een klein uurtje via de klassieke lijn over Dordrecht omgeleid. Samen met nog twee Nederlandse spotters waren mijn broer Steven en ik zo getuige van de doortocht van IC 9236 naar Brussel terwijl ook net IC 9235 naar Amsterdam het toneel verliet - wat dit bijzondere plaatje opleverde.

En tja... die commotie?! We zullen wel zien hoe heet de soep gegeten wordt vanaf december en welke impact de nieuwe 'IC-snel' zal hebben. Wat ik alleen niet zo goed snap, is het capaciteitsprobleem in de Brusselse Noord-Zuid-verbinding waarvan sprake in het artikel, zeker omdat de nieuwe 'IC-snel' op dit moment toch al een paar maanden proefdraait en dus zonder reizigers door die Noord-Zuid-verbinding spoort. Raar dat er dan nu geen sprake is van een capaciteitsprobleem?!

Due to a technical problem on the high speed line from Rotterdam to Breda, a diverted Intercity from Amsterdam to Brussels is seen in Dordrecht. And a nice coincidence for us because at the same moment the diverted IC from Brussels to Amsterdam passed our place.
