SR 4 half bridge near Stella - a photo on Flickriver

This two-lane stretch of SR 4 winds along the north bank of the Columbia River, hugs a steep cliff-side and is known as a half-bridge: The westbound lane is built on rock, while the eastbound lane is supported by a bridge with a wood deck. The wood is deteriorating and needs to be replaced. Beginning Friday, Jan. 30, WSDOT will close the eastbound lanes for safety and alternate both directions of traffic through a single until repairs can be completed.
