The Way We Were: Lichfield Trent Valley 1978

            Class 87 No. 87001 'Royal Scot' speeds through Lichfield Trent Valley with an Up Express on 29th August 1978. I think a unique feature of 87001 around this time was that its cab sheet number was positioned lower than on the other members of the class. Why this was so, I do not know. This is the view from the Burton Old Road bridge, taken long before Lichfield TVs platforms were extended when this part of the Trent Valley Line was quadrupled.
