Parker Lake Fall Driftwood - a photo on Flickriver

            How could one find a more beautiful mountain lake than this. In the fall, the Aspens and Cottonwoods color up and the Gambel Oak covers the slopes beyond the lake. 

This scene is an example of a balanced composition, meaning the right and left sides have equal compositional 'weight'. I did not apply the Rule of Thirds here as doing so would not have been the best composition. What makes this image interesting, is the brightly-lit U-shaped valley beyond the lake and the complimentary reflection off the surface of the water. 

I walked along the lake shore for over an hour looking for the best spot and the most interesting light. I liked this place because I could put the old driftwood logs as an interesting foreground object. When you encounter a scene like this, it is important to have patience. The this morning light was coming through the clouds and changing every five or ten seconds. The scene would go from gray to bright as I watched as the clouds above moved and parted to let in the sunlight.
