Zion Clear Creek Slot Canyon - a photo on Flickriver

            On my second day in the park - while the adults got reacquainted - I snuck off to do a little exploring. Zion has its share of slot canyons and they are wonderful to explore - whether they are wet OR dry.

Clear Creek, which sits on the eastern side of The Tunnel in ZNP, did have water in it earlier this year according to the Ranger I talked to. But on this day it was dry, dry, dry. The sandy river bottom I was standing on was many feet deep. There was also flash flood debris many feet over my head in some places. When the water does find its way into these slot canyons it is SO NOT a place for a hike.
