            Let's start the ball rolling. 

Recently returned from a coupla weeks abroad (as they used to say). Six days in the Netherlands and six days in Iceland. In a somewhat simple way, Iceland was full of vistas while the Netherlands was full of little moments (and a few vistas).  It was a pleasure to travel with both my wife and my parents and we got to see and visit some extraordinary places. I will throw a mixture of images and stories at you over the next few weeks - but let's start with one of my favorite images from the trip - from northern Iceland - at Godafoss. In Icelandic, fossar means waterfall, so a lot of waterfall names end in "foss." And Godafoss is pretty straightforward - God's Waterfall. 

We spent a few nights up in Akureyri - the largest city in the north (at just 18,000) - and Godafoss was just 45 minutes east on the Ring Road (Iceland 1). If you're driving the ring counterclockwise, you can see Godafoss from a long, long way off - we came the other way and so it snuck up on us. As I was the numbnuts hauling gear around, everyone got to see it up close before I did, but, in this case that was okay - because I captured my one and only wife, standing solo enough at the brink of the falls...
