The Belgian town of Doel is doomed to disappear, as the Port of Antwerp is expanding. A nuclear power plant was built right next to the town in 1969. Since then the inhabitants are forced to leave their homes, but a few people resist. The town is now an almost inhabited ghost town. Many houses have already been demolished. This place used be a good spot for urban exploration, but a few years ago empty houses were either demolished or closed in order to prevend vandalism.

In 1990 the town had 920 inhabitants. In 2007 there were 359 souls, and now (2019) only 24 people refuse to leave the town.
