The distribution given in the tags is for the entire species and the nominate subspecies (on a country level the distributions match).

Officially there are two subspecies and two varieties at present. (fide J. F. Matthews & D. W. Ketron in 'Two New Combinations in Portulaca (Portulacaceae)' in Castanea [1991]):
+ Portulaca umbraticola subsp. coronata - Originally described from a plant found just below the summit of Little Stone Mountain, Georgia (USA). Only known to occur in the states of Georgia and South Carolina.
+ Portulaca umbraticola subsp. umbraticola var. lanceolata - originally described from the granite uplands of western Texas as P. lanceolata Engelm. (the plant was probably first discovered in 1848), it was re-described as P. umbraticola subsp. lanceolata (Engelm.) J. F. Matthews & Ketron in 'Two New Combinations in Portulaca (Portulacaceae)' in the journal 'Castanea' in 1991, however J. F. Matthews & D. W. Ketron republished the taxon as P. umbraticola subsp. lanceolata J. F. Matthews & Ketron in 1992, when it turned out there was already a P. lanceolata described from South Africa by Adrian Hardy Haworth in 1803 back when Georg Engelmann described his P. lanceolata in 1850. The taxon was further reduced again in the treatment in the 'Atlas of Vascular Plants of Texas vol. 8' in 2003 by B.L. Turner. According to the FNA it occurs in southern Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona.

It is unclear to me from what subspecies the cultivated material is derived from.
