The host in the left was talking about a trap to catch wild animals. The glass bottle in the photo is millet liquor containing unknown ingredients.
The guide in the right was a Shan. Shans are the dominant ethnic group in the Shan State.

Shan is a member of a large ethnic group that speaks Tai-Kadai languages. 
Guizhou province (貴州省) of China is supposed to be their homeland. They have spread over provinces in southern China.
Zhuang people in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (広西壮族自治区) of China, in which famous Guilin (桂林) is located, belongs to the same group. They had obtained an autonomous status equal to Tibet, Uyghur, Inner Mongolia and Ningxia muslims.
They are found in a large number in northern Vietnam.
They are politically independent in Thailand and Laos.
Total number of Tai-Kadai languages speakers is nearing 100 million.
