            Eastern riverside of the Arakawa illuminated by the setting sun.
It was a magic moment when a grey ordinary cityscape in the eastern periphery of Tokyo suddenly came into the spotlight.

The tower-like structure is the stack of the Kasai Sludge Incineration Plant. Elevated roads are part of Metropolitan Expressway. 
There are many apartment buildings that are built on the ground that is below the sea level. Sinking of the ground was caused by an excessive pumping of groundwater.
The sludge incinerator works with the sewerage treatment plant located next door to the Kasai Seaside Park.
