Selby Duchess

            A wider shot of LMS Princess Coronation class 7P 4-6-2 6233 Duchess of Sutherland passing Platform 1 at Selby station with 1Z80, the 07:23 London Kings Cross to York, via Selby.

The Stanier Pacific was in charge of The Valentines White Rose, run by the Railway Touring Company (RTC) and operated by West Coast Railway Company Ltd.

Class 47 47804 at the rear of the train would then take over and lead the train out of Selby and back up the East Coast Main Line into York thereby ensuring the Duchess was facing the right way for the return journey, without the need for any turning.
