Vista House - a photo on Flickriver

Vista House

            Built between 1916 and 1918 as a comfort station for travelers along the old Columbia River Highway, and as an observatory.  Vista House offers a magnificent view of the Columbia River Gorge.  It was rededicated in 2006 after being closed for nearly 5 years while it underwent a massive restoration project.

The Vista House is currently inaccessible as the road is closed to all traffic (including foot traffic) while the pylons holding the road up are replaced.  It will be closed for the rest of 2012.
