“I’ve got three sisters, two younger and one older than me. My two youngest sisters were adopted. Both my parents were teaching English in China, where they met. They came back to the UK, had my older sister and me, and a couple of years later decided to adopt. My mum once told me that ‘You get to a certain point when you realise that you don’t need to bring any more children into the world’. For a while, when I was younger, I thought it would be difficult for my parents to love my younger sisters as much as me. I know that sounds really bad, but then I realised it’s so much more difficult for them, being adopted. You can just tell if someone is your sister, whether they’re related by blood or not. My two younger sisters are definitely just as much siblings as my older sister.”

Meet Sophie.

She was wandering the markets, like myself, when I saw her. She was actually catching a train down to London for an interview the following day, it was for a prestigious arts college (I forget the name); I hope she got in!
